Fight2Feed Trade Show Food & Materials Rescue at McCormick Place

Help us turn convention surplus into community impact.
Every year, Fight2Feed® rescues hundreds of pallets of food, materials, and essential items from conventions. We put those resources to work through our network of 102 partner organizations while helping events reduce waste.
This year, we're on track to nearly double the amount we rescue and redistribute, and we need 50-100 volunteers to make it happen.
What you'll do
Work alongside a dedicated team to rescue, inventory, organize, and prepare surplus goods for distribution. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at a major industry event while helping valuable resources reach communities that need them.

- Loading and unloading
- Sorting and packing
- Inventory
- Pulling carts and pallets
- Lots of walking!
It's hands-on, high-energy work with real impact.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 25 pounds
When
Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Choose the shift that works for you:
- 2:00-8:00 PM
- 3:00-9:00 PM
- 5:00-11:00 PM
- Entire shift: 2:00-11:00 PM

What to wear
- Comfortable clothes, long pants, and closed-toe shoes with nonslip soles (jeans or slacks are fine)
- No shorts, tank tops, or open-toe shoes
- Bring layers, like a jacket or long-sleeved shirt, in case the weather changes
- Hairnets and gloves are provided by Fight2Feed® and required when handling food
- Hats and baseball caps are welcome
All Fight2Feed® volunteers must follow Fight2Feed® standards.

- *COMP parking in C Lot Green Section. QR Code will be available once on site from our Lead. McCormick is large convention center, please leave some time to park. **
IF DRIVING: Best to Google Map Arie Crown Theatre McCormick Place to get to Fort Dearborn Drive
- Type "Arie Crown Theatre McCormick Place" in Google Maps
- Parking Lot C garage will be on your right taking your underground on Fort Dearborn Drive
- Turn right and take a ticket. We will cover your parking by QR code.
- Turn left and keep driving until you see the green parking section.
- Park to the right in the green section.
- Enter McCormick Place from the parking lot through doors in the garage
- McCormick Place is big, so we made a video to help! Find it pinned on our Instagram @fight2feed, showing exactly how to get from the parking garage to our kitchen.
