Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for providing financial oversight and accountability for the organization. The Treasurer works with the Board of Directors and organizational leadership to help ensure that financial resources are managed responsibly, accurately, and in accordance with the organization’s policies, bylaws, and applicable requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide financial oversight and guidance to the Board of Directors.
• Monitor the organization’s income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and overall financial position.
• Review financial reports and present regular financial updates to the Board.
• Assist with the preparation, review, and monitoring of the annual budget.
• Help ensure that expenditures are properly authorized and consistent with approved budgets and organizational policies.
• Monitor financial controls and promote responsible stewardship of organizational funds.
• Work with staff, accountants, auditors, financial institutions, or other financial professionals as needed.
• Review bank statements, financial records, and other reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure that required financial records are properly maintained.
• Assist with financial planning and long-term sustainability efforts.
• Support audits, financial reviews, tax filings, and other required financial reporting.
• Promptly bring significant financial concerns or irregularities to the attention of the Board.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive financial and organizational information.
• Perform other financial duties assigned by the Board or required by the organization’s bylaws.

Qualifications

The Treasurer should demonstrate financial responsibility, attention to detail, integrity, sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to understand and communicate financial information to the Board and community.
