    Project | Program Managers

OpenGov Africa is a civic-tech STEM startup using open source technology, data, and community-driven innovation to reimagine governance, strengthen transparency, and empower citizen participation across Africa.

    We work with citizens, policymakers, researchers, and technologists to foster open governance models that empower communities, reduce corruption, and create equitable development opportunities.

    We are seeking Project & Program Managers to help plan, oversee and coordinate ongoing initiatives, ensuring effective execution and measurable impact. You will serve as a bridge between teams, driving clarity, timelines, and results. This role is perfect for detail-oriented leaders who enjoy managing teams, timelines, and processes in a fast-paced community environment.

    This role is ideal for someone passionate about organization, leadership, and community building.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Project Planning: Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
    • Coordination: Facilitate cross-team communication and collaboration across regions.
    • Planning & Coordination: Develop project plans, track progress, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Team Support: Facilitate communication across teams and ensure smooth collaboration.
    • Monitoring & Evaluation: Track outcomes, collect data, and prepare progress reports.
    • Resource Management: Identify needs and coordinate volunteer contributions effectively.
    • Risk Management: Identify and help resolve project risks or bottlenecks.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Support relationships with external partners, collaborators, and beneficiaries.

    Qualifications

    • Experience or strong interest in project management, or program coordination (community experience a plus).
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
    • Proficiency with project management tools (GitHib Project Boards, Asana, Google Workspace).
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a remote environment.
    • Passion for governance, civic tech, or community development.

    Expected Requirements

    • Time Commitment: Approx. 4-6 hours per week (flexible, remote).
    • Commitment Period: Minimum 6 months preferred.
    • Remote Work: Must have reliable internet access.
