REMOTE VOLUNTEER WEB ACCESSIBILITY SPECIALIST — BELIEVE IN ME NONPROFITHelp Believe in Me make its websites, volunteer information, scholarship resources, fundraising content, and community-program materials accessible to people with disabilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Believe in Me is a Washington nonprofit supporting youth and young people through scholarships, education initiatives, community partnerships, and volunteer expertise. The Web Accessibility Specialist will assess public-facing digital experiences and help teams implement sustainable accessibility practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit websites, forms, navigation, documents, images, video, and campaign content for accessibility barriers.
Evaluate keyboard access, screen-reader behavior, headings, labels, contrast, focus, alt text, captions, and error messages.
Document findings with priority, user impact, remediation guidance, and verification steps.
Collaborate with WordPress, content, design, marketing, video, QA, and program volunteers.
Build reusable publishing checklists and accessibility acceptance criteria.
Support accessible scholarship, volunteer, donor, event, and community-partnership information.
Apply inclusive language and disability-respectful practices.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Digital accessibility, WCAG, inclusive design, WordPress, UX, web development, QA, assistive technology, accessible content, or disability advocacy. Both professional expertise and relevant lived experience are valued.
TIME AND LOCATION
Remote and flexible, approximately 2–3 hours per week, with ongoing or project-based participation.

Your work will help more students, families, volunteers, donors, and partners find and use nonprofit resources independently. Volunteers receive orientation, prioritized tasks, collaboration tools, and access to content and technical leaders.
