    Description

    The Board Secretary is a key volunteer leadership position responsible for maintaining the organization's official records and ensuring accurate documentation of Board decisions. This role is critical for organizational transparency, governance compliance, and supporting the smooth operation of The Lavender Project.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and maintain minutes of all Board meetings
    • Respond to emails
    • Keep accurate records of corporate documents, including bylaws, resolutions, and policies
    • Ensure that Board resolutions and decisions are documented and filed appropriately
    • Maintain a record of Board member attendance and actions
    • Support the Board in meeting legal and compliance obligations, including IRS and state reporting
    • Collaborate with the President & Executive Director and other Board members to ensure smooth governance

    Qualifications

    • Strong organization and record-keeping skills
    • Comfortable with document preparation and basic digital tools (e.g., Google Docs, Notion, or Word)
    • Reliable and committed to attending quarterly Board meetings and special sessions as needed
    • Understanding of nonprofit governance is a plus, but not required
    • Passion for LGBTQIA2S+ rights and community empowerment
