Youth Initiatives Intern – Fair Oaks Park
Overview
This internship supports a community‑based program designed to educate youth on human trafficking awareness, personal safety, and foundational financial literacy skills. The intern helps create a safe, trauma‑informed learning environment where young people can build confidence, recognize risks, and develop practical life skills. This role is ideal for students interested in social work, public health, psychology, criminal justice, youth development, or community education.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with planning and facilitating youth programs such as workshops, recreational activities, mentorship circles, and community events.
- Assist with facilitating weekly classes focused on human trafficking prevention, healthy boundaries, online safety, and financial literacy basics.
- Engage directly with youth participants, helping create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging space.
- Support outreach efforts by connecting with local schools, community groups, and families to raise awareness about the programs.
- Help design program materials including flyers, social media posts, schedules, and activity guides.
- Help develop age‑appropriate educational materials such as worksheets, discussion prompts, safety scenarios, and financial literacy activities.
- Collect feedback and track participation to help improve program quality and impact.
- Track attendance and collect feedback to help evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth setup, cleanup, coordination of activities and follow trauma‑informed best practices.
- Contribute ideas for new youth initiatives that promote leadership, wellness, creativity, and community connection.
