Details
Description
About Us
The Campbell House is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on youth mentorship, leadership, education, and community empowerment.
Through The Campbell House International, we are developing community-based initiatives outside the United States. Our Nairobi program, Ubuntu Dada House Kenya, works to support girls and young women through menstrual health education, reusable menstrual products, workshops, mentorship, and community engagement.
We are growing our local presence in Nairobi and are looking for volunteers who want to become active members of this work.
What You’ll Do
As a Nairobi-based volunteer, you will work with our local project team to help deliver and expand Ubuntu Dada House activities.
Depending on your interests and availability, you may:
- Assist with menstrual health and girls’ empowerment workshops.
- Support the distribution of reusable menstrual products and educational materials.
- Help coordinate community outreach and events.
- Build relationships with schools, youth organizations, and community partners.
- Help identify girls and communities that could benefit from programming.
- Support participant registration and basic program documentation.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination.
- Help document program activities and impact, with appropriate consent.
- Contribute photos, stories, or other content for program communications.
- Help identify potential community partnerships and local resources.
- Share ideas for new activities and ways to strengthen the program.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome university students, young professionals, educators, community advocates, nonprofit professionals, health professionals, and other Nairobi residents who want to give back.
You do not need extensive nonprofit experience.
We are looking for volunteers who are:
- Based in Nairobi or able to regularly participate in activities in Nairobi.
- Reliable and responsive.
- Passionate about supporting girls and young people.
- Comfortable engaging with schools and communities.
- Respectful of participant privacy and confidentiality.
- Willing to work collaboratively with our Kenya project team.
- Comfortable communicating through WhatsApp and online platforms.
English and/or Swahili language skills are helpful.
Time Commitment
Flexible. We understand that volunteers may be balancing school, employment, and family responsibilities.
We welcome both volunteers who can assist with individual events and those interested in becoming ongoing members of our Nairobi team. Please be upfront about your availability so we can identify opportunities that are a good fit.
What You’ll Gain
This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in:
- Community outreach
- Youth and girls’ empowerment
- International nonprofit programming
- Event and workshop coordination
- Community partnership development
- Volunteer engagement
- Program implementation
- Social impact and nonprofit leadership
Most importantly, we want our volunteers to feel connected to the work and invested in its growth. Volunteers are encouraged to contribute ideas and help us build a program that responds to the needs of the communities we serve.
