Aspire Counseling Center of Pompton Plains is currently recruiting for 2 volunteer educators or teaching aides to support our students during academic instruction weekdays Monday- Friday from 9 am - 1 pm. Volunteers can be available 2, 3 or 5 days.
Aspire is a private non-profit organization offering outpatient treatment in Pompton Plains, NJ that caters to ages 13-18 seeking help for substance use disorders. This center offers a combination of classroom instruction and substance use and mental health treatment including anger management, brief intervention, cognitive behavioral therapy, contingency management and motivational interviewing. The program is led by the clinical team and teaching program staff Monday through Friday from 9 am - 2:30 pm.
Job Responsibilities include:
Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing each student's specific daily education programs
Preferred Candidate Qualifications:
- Former or current middle or high school teachers in special education and tutors of high school subjects.
- Students pursuing the field of counseling or social work
- Able to create positive class community and build relationships with students
- Has excitement and passion for teaching kids and personal development/learning
- Cooperative, supportive, flexible
- Has a strong work ethic and do whatever it takes mind set
- A variety of education and experience will be considered including experience working with high school students.
