    VA Deputy Representative - Salisbury, NC

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The VA Deputy Representative will be knowledgeable about Soldiers’ Angels programs and policies and will coordinate with their VA Representative and the local Chief of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) to provide Soldiers’ Angels program support to veterans in the VA Medical Center, VA clinics, VA vet centers and other VA facilities.The VA Deputy Representative will assist the VA Representative in their assigned duties.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Assist the VA Representative in the recruitment, retention, and recognition of volunteers.

        Assist planning special events and coordinating the distribution of goods and services.

          Outreach within the local community for donations as well as volunteers.

            Coordinate delivery of Soldiers’ Angels programs with the CDCE committee and appropriate VA staff.

              Assist tracking national campaigns (donations Girl Scout Cookies etc.), to include picture requirement.

                Attend the quarterly meetings and the Annual Joint Review.

                  Attend meetings with staff manager

                  QUALIFICATIONS:

                    Meet the local VA volunteer requirements, which will include background checks and any medical requirements, e.g., vaccines.

                      A genuine desire to serve veterans.

                        Be enthusiastic and be able to build relationships with diverse volunteers.

                          Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills and comfortable with public speaking.

                            Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.

                              Comfortable reaching out to business’, organizations, and individuals.

                                Working knowledge of MS Office and databases.

                                  Physically capable of performing regularly scheduled (RS) hours of service.
