    Description:

    Become a staff writer for our organizational newsletter, The New Wave. Our mission is to share marginalized stories and news. Partner with an incarcerated writer to co-author stories, interviews, and essays exploring themes of justice, resilience, and creativity or independently tackle research and editorial articles. Both participants will exchange writing feedback and learn from each other’s perspectives and styles.

    Responsibilities:

    • Write original stories or co-develop features.
    • Conduct interviews with incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals.
    • Collaborate on narrative editing and fact-checking.

    Skills Gained: Journalism, storytelling, cultural empathy, interviewing, and editing.

    💡 Commitment: 5–8 hours per week (remote/hybrid)

    📍 Location: Remote – with optional in-person opportunities at partner sites

    🎓 Open to: Undergraduate and graduate students in journalism, communication, marketing, design, public policy, or related fields
