Volunteer at the Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj)!
Looking to make a difference in your community? Join our amazing team of volunteers at JAMsj! Whether you’re a student, a working professional, or retired, volunteering at the JAMsj is a rewarding way to preserve and share Japanese American history, art, and culture!
Benefits of Volunteering at JAMsj:
What is a docent?
A JAMsj docent gives tours to our museum visitors, but they are more than just a guide! Docents are interpreters and a stewards of Japanese American history in the Bay Area. You do not need to be Japanese American or have prior experience or historical knowledge to be a JAMsj docent. All necessary training will be provided! Bilingual in any language is a plus!
Our recruitment window for docents, museum store associates, and event volunteers is now open until January 31, 2026. If interested, please follow the provided link for our 2026 Winter Volunteer Interest Form and put these two dates on your calendar:
Please fill out the 2026 Winter Volunteer Interest Form linked here. All prospective volunteers are encouraged to attend the in-person Volunteer Info Session and must attend the in-person volunteer orientation--dates and times listed in the form.
