What is a docent?
A JAMsj docent gives tours to our museum visitors, but they are more than just a guide! Docents are interpreters and a stewards of Japanese American history in the Bay Area. You do not need to be Japanese American or have prior experience or historical knowledge to be a JAMsj docent. All necessary training will be provided! Bilingual in any language is a plus!
Our recruitment window for docents, museum store associates, and event volunteers is now open until January 31, 2026. If interested, please follow the provided link for our 2026 Winter Volunteer Interest Form and put these two dates on your calendar:
- Info Session @ JAMsj will be held on Saturday, January 31 from 10 - 11:15 AM (highly recommended)
- Orientation @ JAMsj will be held on Saturday, February 7 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM (required)
