    Description

    Between Friends provides quality social, recreation, and development opportunities, so that people with disabilities can Connect, Grow, and Belong.

    Come and volunteer for our W.E.S.O.A.R! Programs! You will be working with people with disabilities, helping to provide social and recreational programs in the Evenings and Weekends from June to August. We have a wide variety of programs available from swimming every week, hitting up a new bar, going to Flying Squirrel, and more!

    Our Volunteers helps to facilitate the program alongside the Program Leader, making sure our participants are safe, comfortable, included, and having fun!

    Time Requirements

    Our Summer W.E.S.O.A.R! Programs are In Person, and last for 2-3 hours and run once a week Sunday - Tuesday From June - August (9 Weeks)

    Evening programs take place within 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

    Weekend Programs can take place from 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM

    You might be the person we’re looking for if:

    Caring - You welcome and celebrate people with empathy and dignity. You enjoy working with individuals to create supports that work the best for them.

    Easeful - You strive to create accessible and inclusive spaces that remove barriers to access. Previous experience developing and implementing programming, considered an asset.

    Safe - You value creating and maintaining safe spaces to promote inclusion and fun!

    Requirements:

    Must be over the age of 16.

    Must pass a Police Check (Between Friends will supply details)

    Reliable transportation to and from program

    Ability to support with personal care, a second person to medication administration, and lifts and transfers - Training to be provided.

    Come with an inclusive mindset

    An eagerness to learn and try new experiences

    Ability to problem solve and work collaboratively

    Ability to communicate via Slack with program leaders and office staff

    Successfully complete an application form on Better Impact

    Experience working with people with disabilities would be considered an asset.
