    Description

LSS of Northern California, a premier provider of services for individuals and families experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, is looking for a volunteer to help in our weekly food bank at our Polk Street housing site. Every Thursday afternoon, we receive bundles of food to sort and pack for distribution to residents. Shift 2 runs from 2:30 am-4:30pm every Thursday. This shift focuses primarily on the food distribution and assisting residents as they receive their groceries. Volunteers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend and twist at the waist, push carts of produce, and assist with handing produce to residents. The position also involves interacting with our clients and their caregivers, including individuals with complex medical needs and case-management clients. Volunteers will need to wear gloves and handle a variety of food products, including raw produce and proteins, as well as milk, eggs, wheat, and nut products.
