    Community Coordinator - (Pine City)

    About MNeurodivergent

MNeurodivergent is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit by and for neurodivergent adults. Our mission is to reduce isolation, foster community connection, and create radically welcoming spaces where neurodivergent individuals can be fully themselves. We organize sensory-friendly events, build peer support networks, and support grassroots leadership across Minnesota—including in cities like the Twin Cities, Duluth, Saint Cloud, and Pine City.

We believe in self-determination, accessibility, and community leadership by neurodivergent people themselves. Events are designed around inclusion, low-pressure engagement, and respect for sensory, communication, and support needs.

    Position Overview

MNeurodivergent is seeking a Community Coordinator to lead our work in the Pine City area. As a Community Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for organizing inclusive in-person events, recruiting and interviewing volunteers, tabling at local festivals, identifying community partnerships, and serving as the central point of contact for your region.

You’ll help build a consistent, welcoming presence for neurodivergent adults in Pine City by fostering local leadership, strengthening visibility, and ensuring events align with our values. This is a fully on-site volunteer role, ideal for someone who is passionate about neurodivergent inclusion and community connection.

    Key Responsibilities

    Event Planning & Hosting

    • Organize and host regular social events (e.g., game nights, café meetups, crafting events, or community walks)
    • Ensure events are accessible, sensory-considerate, and welcoming for a wide range of neurotypes
    • Select inclusive venues and coordinate event logistics (setup, supplies, safety, etc.)

    Volunteer Coordination

    • Identify and interview prospective Event Organizers, Co-Hosts, and Outreach Volunteers in Pine City
    • Share interview notes with the Volunteer Committee of the Board, who complete official onboarding
    • Support new volunteers as they integrate into the local team
    • Host monthly meetings with all active Pine City volunteers to plan, collaborate, and build connection

    Outreach & Representation

    • Identify local festivals, fairs, and tabling opportunities for outreach and sensory-friendly engagement
    • Help coordinate staffing and materials for tabling events (banners, displays, fidgets, etc.)
    • Represent MNeurodivergent publicly and build partnerships with libraries, coffee shops, businesses, or organizations aligned with our mission

    Fundraising & Local Development

    • Identify and propose local grants, sponsorships, or donation opportunities to support Pine City-based events
    • Collaborate with the Development/Fundraising Work Group on funding proposals or initiatives
    • Support community-based fundraising efforts at events or through local businesses

    Organizational Involvement

    • Attend monthly Events Committee Meetings (virtual statewide coordinator calls)
    • Share progress reports with the Events Committee or your Board Liaison on event turnout, outreach, and volunteer activity
    • Communicate community needs, feedback, and barriers to statewide leadership

    Qualifications

    • Based in or near Pine City, MN
    • Passionate about building inclusive community spaces for neurodivergent adults
    • Friendly, reliable, and comfortable hosting and planning local events
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Experience with event planning, outreach, peer support, or volunteer leadership (preferred but not required)
    • Must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
    • Lived neurodivergent experience is welcomed and valued

    Time Commitment

    • Estimated 4–8 hours per week, flexible based on your availability and community needs
    • Includes planning and attending events, volunteer interviews, team coordination, and monthly statewide meetings
    • Some evening or weekend availability required depending on events

    Benefits of Volunteering

    • Make a meaningful impact in the Pine City neurodivergent community
    • Lead local initiatives and shape inclusive social experiences
    • Gain experience in nonprofit leadership, event coordination, and community organizing
    • Receive support from a statewide network of volunteers, board members, and peer coordinators
    • Be recognized as the face of MNeurodivergent in Pine City
