Description
Translation & Interpretation Support Volunteer
Help us build stronger connections in our community by ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and understood!
As a Translation & Interpretation Support Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in making Habitat Charlotte Region’s programs accessible to Spanish-speaking individuals and families. Your language skills will help bridge communication gaps and foster meaningful relationships across our diverse community.
What You’ll Do
- Provide in-person interpretation at outreach events, helping Spanish-speaking attendees learn about Habitat’s programs and services (as needed)
- Support Habitat staff during meetings with Latino organizations and faith-based groups by offering live interpretation (at least 7 meetings)
- Translate materials such as flyers, brochures, presentations, and outreach letters from English to Spanish—ensuring everything is clear, accurate, and culturally relevant across all departments
What You Bring
- Fluency in English and Spanish (both verbal and written)
- A passion for and/or experience working with the Latino community
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across cultures
- A commitment to Habitat’s mission of building homes, communities, and hope
- A professional, positive presence in community settings
- Experience with translation and/or interpretation (preferred)
Time Commitment
- Flexible schedule based on events and meetings (approximately 2–6 hours per month)
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends (Monday–Sunday)
- Ability to attend events within our service area: Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Gaston counties
✨ Your voice can make a difference—help us ensure every neighbor has access to the resources they need.
