Description
Want to help teach the next generation of environmental stewards? Consider becoming an Environmental Education Volunteer with Pierce Conservation District! Volunteer docents play a key role in nature field trips, STEM fairs, and other youth programming as PCD strives to educate and inspire local students about the natural resources in their own backyards. Throughout the year, docents have opportunities to assist with:
- Puyallup Salmon Hatchery field trips in the Fall
- Tacoma & White River 'Salmon In The Classroom' salmon release field trips in the Spring
- Miscellaneous school STEM Fairs
Volunteers receive an orientation and professional development on the topics covered by various programs, and efforts are made to match volunteers with activities that align with their interests and availability.
- Because volunteer docents work with vulnerable populations, interested parties must agree to undergo background check.
