Networking with Participants (Step into Tech)

Join UNITE-LA as a volunteer to make a lasting impact on the lives and futures of L.A.’s youth and young adults!Facilitate small-group discussions and activities that allow participants to practice networking skills in a supportive environment.

Why: Volunteer to connect with Step into Tech participants via Zoom breakouts for speed networking, providing them an opportunity to practice their networking skills.

Who: An important part of UNITE-LA’s mission is to improve career and post-secondary outcomes for L.A.’s youth and young adults through college access, career pathway, workforce programming and job/internship opportunities. Step into Tech is a paid work-based learning opportunity connecting justice involved and impacted individuals 18-28 to pathways in to careers in tech.

What to Expect: We will offer a Volunteer Orientation and provide instruction for your speed networking experience before the session.

The volunteer (YOU):

• Will introduce yourself and encourage participant to introduce themselves.
• Will engage in conversation as you would in a networking event.
• Will provide constructive feedback and networking tips.
• The networking session should take no more than 50 min (with 2-3 different sessions)
• Volunteers are also encouraged to provide constructive feedback and networking tips to participants helping to prepare them for future networking opportunities.

What's Required: Participation on March 12th 10:10AM- 11:00AM.

• ​All industry professionals welcome, tech experience not required.
• Volunteers for Step into Tech must possess patience, empathy, and a willingness to guide individuals through their career journey.
• Commitment to meetings and open communication are essential.
• Passion for supporting young adults on their pathway to success
