    Collegiate Connect Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting college students through peer-to-peer compassionate listening and meaningful connection. Our mission is to make mental health support more accessible, relatable, and free of stigma. Trained peer listeners provide empathy and understanding to help students navigate challenges such as stress, loneliness, and the highs and lows of student life. By joining Collegiate Connect, volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to a growing movement that prioritizes mental wellness and connection within the student community.

    Role Description

    This is a remote Volunteer Listener role open to all undergraduate and graduate students in the United States. As a Volunteer Listener, you will engage with college students, offering active listening, emotional support, and empathetic communication during scheduled sessions. You will help identify and provide appropriate resources when needed and participate in ongoing training and team meetings to enhance your skills. Maintaining confidentiality and fostering a welcoming, non-judgmental space for students are essential responsibilities of the role.

    Qualifications

    • Active Listening and Empathy skills, with a non-judgmental and compassionate approach
    • Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills to build meaningful connections
    • Basic Understanding of Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing
    • Collaboration and Teamwork skills, with a willingness to participate in team training and activities
    • Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
    • Experience in supporting peers or a background in counseling/psychology is a plus
    • Currently enrolled college students or individuals with knowledge of the college experience are highly encouraged to apply
