    High school students are welcome starting at age 17 with an accompanying adult age 18+ for visits. College students and pre-PA students encouraged to apply. Flexible schedules available. Typical visits are about 1 hour weekly. Training provided.

    Volunteer Opportunity for Future PA Students

    Planning to apply to a Physician Assistant program? Hospice volunteering can provide meaningful face-to-face patient experience while helping you better understand compassionate healthcare, teamwork, and communication.

    As a hospice volunteer:

    • Visit patients and provide companionship

    • Observe how the IDT (Interdisciplinary Team) works together

    • Learn the importance of patient-centered care

    • Gain experience with professionalism, communication, and documentation

    • Participate in volunteer visit notes and care coordination support

    • Build confidence interacting with patients, families, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and healthcare staff

    This experience can strengthen PA school applications by showing commitment to service, empathy, teamwork, and direct patient interaction.

    Volunteers choose their schedules and are typically matched for about 1 hour visits weekly. Training provided.

    Requirements include:

    • Application/interview

    • Background check

    • Drug screening

    • TB testing

    • Training and onboarding

    Providence is located near the intersection of Harry & Webb on east Harry Street in an office complex. If you’re coming from Kellogg (US-54)

    • Take the Webb Road exit

    • Go south on Webb Road

    • Turn west onto Harry Street

    • The office complex will be on the north side of Harry

    • Suite 703 is inside the building

    Office applications are usually welcomed Monday through Friday during daytime hours, 9:30-4:30.
