    Volunteer Wellness Coordinator

    About Us

    Hope Haven Pet Rescue is a small, fully foster-based, volunteer-run cat rescue serving communities across Massachusetts. All cats in our care live in private foster homes, allowing us to provide individualized, thoughtful care while prioritizing stability, well-being, and humane outcomes. We are committed to sustainable rescue practices and collaborative leadership.

    Position Overview

    The Wellness Coordinator is a leadership-level volunteer role focused on supporting the physical and emotional well-being of cats in foster care. This role combines coordination, communication, documentation, and observation, with limited hands-on medical support when appropriate and permitted. The Wellness Coordinator works closely with foster caregivers, veterinary partners, and the Rescue Leadership Team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Track wellness needs including vaccinations, testing, spay/neuter status, medications, and recovery timelines
    • Maintain accurate medical and wellness records
    • Coordinate veterinary appointments and share care plans with fosters
    • Serve as a point of contact for routine health or behavior questions
    • Identify concerns early and escalate appropriately
    • Review foster observations related to behavior, stress, and adjustment
    • Provide basic guidance on enrichment and stress reduction
    • Assist with vaccines, blood draws, or wellness clinics when permitted
    • Support veterinary partnerships and research low-cost medical resources
    • Collaborate with the leadership team and support shared responsibilities

    Qualifications

    • Experience in veterinary medicine, shelter medicine, rescue wellness, or feline care preferred
    • Ability to recognize feline behavior and stress signals
    • Organized, reliable, and comfortable working remotely
    • Clear, compassionate communication style
    • Comfortable using basic technology and documentation systems
    • Willingness to work within Massachusetts regulations and rescue protocols
