Description
This program allows volunteers to help patients create meaningful legacy items that reflect their life stories, values, and personal memories. Volunteers work directly with patients and families to develop projects such as memory books, audio/video recordings, letters, art, or scrapbooks that can be cherished by loved ones.
Goals:
- Honor patients’ lives by preserving their personal stories and wisdom.
- Support emotional healing and connection between patients and families.
- Provide a sense of purpose and dignity for patients.
- Create lasting keepsakes for families after the loss.
Core Tasks:
- Conduct compassionate interviews with patients to gather stories and memories.
- Assist in documenting or recording patients’ narratives (written, audio, or video).
- Support creative aspects of legacy projects (e.g., formatting, design, photo collection).
- Collaborate with families when appropriate to enhance the legacy item.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical boundaries during patient interactions.
