Key Responsibilities Program Delivery
- Conduct Sheltered Yoga Curriculum based yoga classes for youth ages 6-18 in group home settings
- Travel to multiple group home locations throughout the service region (either North, South or Central New Jersey)
- Adapt in-person classes to accommodate varying group sizes, ages, genders, and trauma histories
- Create a safe, predictable, and nurturing environment that promotes healing and self-regulation
Logistics and Equipment Management
- Transport and set up all necessary equipment including yoga mats, props, and supplies
- Provide healthy snacks and beverages for participants following each session
- Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards
- Set up and break down class spaces in various group home environments
Documentation and Communication
- Maintain accurate attendance records and session documentation
- Communicate regular updates or concerns with Sheltered Yoga staff
- Provide class notes page for every class (we will provide)
- Conduct evaluations of participants on a regular bimonthly basis
Safety and Trauma-Informed Care
- Maintain trauma-informed approach in all interactions with youth
- Recognize and respond appropriately to trauma responses and triggers
- Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Report concerns regarding youth safety or wellbeing according to Sheltered Yoga staff
Required Qualifications Certifications and Training
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Hired candidates will receive free exclusive training in the Sheltered Yoga Trauma Informed Curriculum before teaching.
- SY provides at no additional cost, yearly continuing education trainings throughout employment
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching to children and/or adolescents
- Experience working with trauma-affected populations preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and regulated in challenging situations
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness
- Team player

- Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds
- Capability to demonstrate yoga poses and movements
- Stamina to conduct multiple classes throughout the day
- Reliable transportation for travel to, from, and between locations
Working Conditions
- Travel required to multiple group home locations
- Schedule includes consistent work days and times that may be in afternoons, evenings and weekends
- Work in residential care environments with varying physical spaces
- Interaction with youth who have experienced significant trauma
- Support any time of day or night regarding your classes or issues that connect with your classes.
- Clear emergency response steps for all locations in which you are teaching.
- A Director to meet and orient you to the environment and community in which you will be teaching.
- A Sheltered Yoga seasoned mentor that will be visiting at least once per 4-6 classes to see how things are going and answer any questions you may have.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience $25 - $30 per hour
- Paid hourly rate for travel between locations
- Supplies and equipment such as yoga mats, cleaning supplies are provided

Competencies needed before teaching for Sheltered Yoga:
- Reference verifications
- Certified Sheltered Yoga Curriculum Instructor ( We will teach and certify you)
- Professional Liability Insurance must be purchased and maintained by teacher
- Liability insurance - we will pay the cost
- FBI / Child Abuse Clearances
- Signed Sheltered Yoga contract and nondisclosure
- Signed Ethics form
- Signed HIPAA form
