    Description

RN, MA and Physicians, Farmworker Outreach Program (Spanish-English Bilingual)

Are you an English-Spanish Bilingual RN interested in a fulfilling volunteer opportunity in Washington and Yamhill Counties? Join Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in our healthcare outreach program to help serve farmworker camps and plants nurseries. Our mobile clinic visits these camps and nurseries in order to provide healthcare services and health education to farmworkers and their families.

Outreach will occur from June to August. Times run from either 2:00 pm to about 8:00 pm or 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Both times and locations vary with each shift. Volunteers do need to be able to drive to each location independently.

The following is a list of some of the tasks that RN's might provide at FOP events:

    • Discussing elevated A1c results and determining a plan of care (consulting with Provider as needed)
    • Discussing elevated BP results and determining a plan of care (consulting with Provider as needed)
    • Triaging symptomatic patients (commonly seen issues include: skin rash, joint pain, UTI symptoms, etc.)
    • Supporting vaccine administration by triaging any side effects or symptomatic patients after administration
    • Being ready to respond to any emergencies and utilizing emergency medication kit as needed in collaboration with Provider

The following is a list of some of the tasks that MA's's might provide at FOP events:

    • Take and document vital signs

    • Support physicians during exams

    • Assist with translation support if bilingual (Spanish especially helpful)

The following is a list of some of the tasks that Physician's might provide at FOP events:

    • Provide basic medical evaluations (acute concerns, chronic condition check-ins)
