Kayak Point needs your help! Ivy at our project site is growing back, can you help staff and other volunteers remove it? We'll meet at the overflow lot to the right of the fee station on Saturday, March 21 at 12 PM. As a volunteer you are not required to pay the fee. The more ivy we remove, the more plants volunteers will get to install next winter!
Removing ivy and installing native plants are all a part of the Snohomish County Healthy Forest Program's plan to protect the forest and Puget Sound's health. Less ivy means less competition for light and water and less damage to the trees that make up the forest. Native plants will provide better food and shelter to the critters that live there.
If you can make it, register online. Please wear long sleeves, long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or snagged on prickly plants. Bring a full water bottle and a snack. Hand tools and gloves will be provided, but you can bring your own if you wish. Remember to bring rain gear if rain is in the forecast.
Remember that we are going into the windy season, so we may reschedule for safety if wind gusts are expected to be over 25 mph. There is plenty of shade at this work site, but no drinking water source, so please take the necessary precautions to have a fun time with us!
