    Description

    Role Overview

    Volunteer Board Members provide governance, oversight, and strategic guidance to support the organization's mission and long-term sustainability. Board members do not participate in day-to-day operations or instructional activities. This role is well-suited for nursing students, public health students, pre-health students, or early-career professionals seeking nonprofit leadership and governance experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or hybrid)
    • Review and provide feedback on organizational plans and policies
    • Support ethical oversight and mission alignment
    • Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director
    • Act in the best interest of the organization and community served

    Qualifications

    • Interest in community health, emergency preparedness, or public service
    • Ability to commit to quarterly meetings
    • Willingness to review documents and participate in discussions
    • Prior board experience not required

    Compensation

    This is a volunteer role. Board members gain nonprofit governance experience, resume/CV enhancement, and community leadership exposure.

    Term

    Initial one-year term, with the option to renew.
