We are currently seeking volunteers to help with the daily care and up keep of the animals that are at the rescue. Please note the following before applying:
Volunteers must be able to commit to one shift per week, 2-4 hours each depending on the shift.
We ask that you only apply if you are truly committed and interested in volunteering. It takes a significant amount of staff/volunteer time to train new volunteers and so we ask that are serious about committing as we will invest time and energy into your training. Those are precious hours that could be spent caring for our animals.
If you just want to meet the residents/animals - but can’t commit to our minimum volunteer requirements, please check out our events that we post on our Facebook page or look into our Family Visits. We always have something going on at the farm.
Shifts are available from 8:30AM- 12:00AM for the morning shift and 4:00PM-6:00PM for the afternoon shift 7 days a week in all weather conditions.
Volunteers MUST be 18 or older.
The volunteer tasks primarily consist of cleaning our animal’s living areas-paddocks and stalls. This means shoveling and scooping lots of poop, scrubbing water buckets in paddocks and in stalls and filling them, sweeping areas, replacing bedding, and setting up stalls for the animals for the evening. Animal handling includes haltering, putting on/taking off sheets and blankets and boots, and leading the animals into paddocks and back to their stalls.
You must be comfortable with cleaning poop, carrying 25-30 lbs and taking direction from other senior volunteers.
Failure to show up or consistently canceling scheduled shifts can lead to termination from the program.
It is not a glamorous job but so rewarding!
