    Description

Title: Volunteer Legal Researcher — Federal Legislative Package

    Organization: Evergreen Movement

    Location: Remote

    Commitment: 5–10 hrs/week, flexible, 3–6 month minimum

    About Us

Evergreen Movement is a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofit working at the intersection of environmental education and policy advocacy. Our two flagship programs are an environmental responsibility curriculum for grades 6–8 and The Seven, a seven-bill federal legislative package addressing consumer protection, democratic integrity, housing and addiction, and environmental restoration.

    The Role

We're looking for a volunteer Legal Researcher to support the ongoing legal review of The Seven. This is substantive research work — not filing or administrative support.

    What You'll Do

    • Research constitutional questions raised by the bills, including Speech or Debate, federalism, and Spending Clause issues
    • Analyze statutory conflicts with existing federal law
    • Track case law relevant to the package's provisions
    • Review draft language for legal vulnerability and propose fixes
    • Produce short written memos summarizing findings

    What We're Looking For

    • Legal research experience — law student, paralegal, or attorney
    • Strong writing and citation skills
    • Ability to work independently and meet agreed timelines
    • Interest in public interest, constitutional, or policy work

    What We Offer

    • A real, substantive portfolio piece — your review shapes legislation
    • Credit in the bill changelog and project records
    • Flexible remote schedule
    • Direct collaboration with the Executive Director
