    Description

Conserve Life Foundation (CLF) is looking for a volunteer to help us develop a practical beadmaking and entrepreneurship training programme for young single mothers experiencing economic difficulties in Tanzania.

The volunteer will work alongside CLF staff and community participants to introduce or strengthen beadmaking skills and help participants explore how handmade products can become a small income-generating activity.

    Responsibilities

    The volunteer may help with:

    • Teaching basic beadmaking and jewellery-making techniques.
    • Helping participants create products such as bracelets, necklaces, earrings and keyrings.
    • Introducing simple designs, patterns and finishing techniques.
    • Helping participants develop attractive and practical products.
    • Teaching basic costing, pricing and record keeping.
    • Sharing ideas on packaging, product presentation and marketing.
    • Introducing simple use of WhatsApp and social media to promote products.
    • Supporting a small product display or community showcase.
    • Encouraging participants to develop their skills and business ideas independently.

    Who We Are Looking For

We welcome volunteers with experience or interest in:

    • Beadmaking or jewellery making
    • Arts and crafts
    • Fashion and design
    • Entrepreneurship or small-business development
    • Marketing and social media
    • Product photography

Professional qualifications are not required. Students, recent graduates, entrepreneurs, artisans, retirees and experienced professionals are welcome.

The most important qualities are patience, creativity, willingness to teach, cultural respect and an interest in working directly with communities.

    What We Provide

CLF will provide local coordination and introduce volunteers to participating community members. Specific training materials and activity arrangements will be discussed before the placement.

Volunteers are not expected to finance participants' businesses or guarantee income.

    Location & Duration

The project takes place in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania.

We recommend a commitment of at least two weeks, with longer placements welcome. Activities will be adapted according to the volunteer's skills, availability and the needs of the participants.

This is an opportunity to share a practical skill, learn from Tanzanian communities and contribute to a grassroots initiative supporting young mothers to develop skills that may create additional economic opportunities.
