Independent Living Housing, Inc. (ILH) is recruiting volunteer instructors and mentors for its English Enrichment & Storytelling Project to be held at the Parkman Branch Library in Detroit from January through June.
The program serves students with learning disabilities and students who are performing below grade level and need additional support in reading, writing, communication, leadership, and self-esteem development.
We are seeking retired educators, English instructors, communications professionals, creative writers, graduate students, college students, and community mentors who are willing to share their expertise and inspire young learners.
Volunteers will help students improve reading comprehension, strengthen writing abilities, develop storytelling skills, build confidence in public speaking, and enhance leadership and communication skills.
Your experience and encouragement can make a lasting difference in the lives of Detroit students.
