    Urban Farm Volunteers - South Bronx Help Students Grow Food & Community Leadership

    Join the Food Revolution in the South Bronx!

    The Center for Food as Medicine & Longevity seeks passionate volunteers to support our Food for Change program at M.S. 129 Academy and Wings Academy. Help amazing student leaders operate hydroponic farms producing 400+ pounds of fresh food monthly for families in need.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist students with planting, harvesting, and farm maintenance
    • Support monthly food distribution to families
    • Help with quarterly Community Table events
    • Mentor student farm leaders (ages 11-17)
    • Document program impact through photos/social media
    • Assist with bilingual outreach when needed

    What Makes This Special: This isn't charity - it's community empowerment. Students lead, volunteers support. You'll be part of a saturation model expanding to 40 schools across 15 square miles to transform food access in the South Bronx.

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for food justice and student empowerment
    • Reliable and punctual
    • Comfortable working with middle/high school students
    • No farming experience required - we provide training!
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) helpful but not required
    • Background check required

    • Resume or volunteer experience summary
    • Two references (name, relationship, phone/email)
    • Preferred volunteer schedule and availability

    Application Process:

    2. Phone/video interview (15-20 minutes)
    3. Background check completion
    4. Sign volunteer agreement
    5. Attend mandatory orientation session
