    Description

    A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that provides Arts Education to children affected by cancer through creative programs and services, both in person and online. Our talented Art Educators help children to explore their creative side through a range of mediums, such as art, music, acting, writing, and singing. They are encouraged to find an art form that appeals to them, then receive tuition, materials, and guidance. Creativity gives children the inspiration to fight their disease, provides a vital outlet for self-expression, and brings profound physical and mental health benefits.

    A Free Bird's mission is to empower children affected by cancer to discover their inner artists.

    Currently we are looking for a skilled Product Development Engineer to help us with the design and production of (the primary and secondary packaging) of our newly developed fragrance. You will work closely with the design team to produce products that adhere to business and company standards and are relevant to the industry. Key responsibilities include packaging design, conducting market research for (new) product opportunities or improvements on existing designs.

    Duties/ Responsibilities:

    • Develop visual concepts and designs for the primary (& secondary) packaging for our newly developed fragrance that accurately meet the specific product features, as thought out by our internal stakeholders.
    • Developing these visual concepts and designs using computer software or by hand, incorporating functional, elegant, manufacturable, sustainable, and cost-effective aspects in the designs.
    • Presenting design concepts to internal stakeholders for review and feedback and making revisions and adjustments to designs based on feedback.
    • Proactively reaching out to/ building relationships with individuals/ organizations with existing audiences that are relevant to the target market of our newly developed fragrance.
    • Working closely with the design team and coordinating with other departments within the company to ensure that all design, marketing and outreach initiatives are aligned.
    • Participating in team meetings and providing input on design-related topics and projects.
    • Ensuring that all designs are produced to the highest standards of quality and accuracy, conform to market specifications and (state) safety regulations.
    • Troubleshooting any design problems that may arise during the design process as needed.
    • Collecting data and feedback from product users and internal stakeholders to identify products or features of products that address specific preferences that will enhance the product experience for product users.
    • Monitoring cosmetics and lifestyle industry trends to stay up to date on the latest design techniques, styles and identify new cosmetic product opportunities.

    Requirements and skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in arts (product development/ product design/ graphic design) or a related field is a must.
    • Proven creativity/artistic sense illustrated by a strong portfolio showcasing a range of design styles and techniques is a must.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design software is a must.
    • Experience and connections in the cosmetics and/or lifestyle industry is a plus.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box.
    • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing design needs and priorities.
    • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
