Volunteer Coaches – AI & Robotics and UI/UX Design
Details
Description
Girls Set Go is seeking U.S.-based volunteer STEM professionals, educators, and emerging professionals to help deliver our virtual technology program for girls in grades 7–12 (ages 12–18).
Our curriculum is currently in development and will be ready by September 11. Volunteers will not be expected to build a course from scratch. Coaches will use Girls Set Go's curriculum, lesson plans, projects, and learning objectives to guide students through hands-on learning in one of two tracks:
AI & Robotics
Support students as they explore artificial intelligence, robotics, systems thinking, prototyping, testing, and project development.
UI/UX Design
Guide students through user research, design thinking, wireframing, prototyping, usability, and the development of portfolio-ready digital projects.
What volunteers will do
Volunteers may support the full 8-week program or individual sessions, depending on their availability and expertise. Responsibilities may include:
- Facilitate virtual lessons using the provided Girls Set Go curriculum.
- Explain technical concepts in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
- Guide students through hands-on exercises and projects.
- Help students troubleshoot, problem-solve, and build confidence.
- Review student work and provide constructive feedback.
- Support project presentations and portfolio development.
- Collaborate with Girls Set Go program leadership to provide students with a consistent, high-quality learning experience.
Who we're looking for
We welcome professionals, educators, graduate students, and experienced practitioners with backgrounds in AI, machine learning, robotics, computer science, engineering, UI/UX design, product design, web development, or related technology fields.
You do not need to be a professional teacher. We are especially interested in volunteers who enjoy working with young people, can make technical concepts approachable, and want to help girls see themselves as future technologists, designers, engineers, and innovators.
We're prioritizing U.S.-based volunteers for this program. More information about any applicable screening requirements will be shared during the volunteer review process.
Commitment
The program runs for 8 weeks and is delivered virtually. Volunteers can participate in one of two ways:
- Full-program coach: Support a cohort throughout the 8-week program, providing continuity and helping students progress from foundational learning through their final projects.
- Guest/session coach: Teach or support selected sessions that align with your expertise and availability.
Training, curriculum materials, lesson guidance, and program support will be provided by Girls Set Go.
