    Description

    Who We Are

Seaside Sustainability is a nonprofit organization based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Seaside Sustainability’s mission is to protect and restore our oceans by educating people of all ages about the critical issues that threaten our environment; promoting best practices for sustainability; and inspiring meaningful advocacy and hands-on action. Seaside works with schools, cities and towns, environmental groups, technology companies, and individuals. Together, we strive to ensure the healthy future of oceans, rivers, wetlands, and estuaries around the world.

    Department

The Website & Technology department at Seaside Sustainability is a group of innovators and problem solvers with a knack for technology and a passion for helping others. The team designs and develops new web pages, maintains the website, troubleshoots technical issues, and seeks new technologies to drive the organization forward. Members serve as the “go-to” resource for tech-related questions across all Seaside teams.

    Role Overview

As a WordPress Lead, you’ll be a core part of this team – designing, building, and maintaining our WordPress website to ensure it is visually consistent, fully responsive, and easy to navigate. You’ll collaborate with team members, content creators, and project leads to deliver a high-quality user experience.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Design and build website pages using WordPress (Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg, or other builders), maintaining brand consistency and clean layout across all pages
    • Ensure responsive design and cross-device compatibility across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes
    • Perform content updates, design edits, and functional adjustments accurately and on schedule
    • Troubleshoot common WordPress issues including plugin conflicts, layout breaks, and theme inconsistencies
    • Coordinate with tech team on testing, documentation, website audits, and adopting emerging tools and frameworks
    • Mentor and review intern submissions, providing constructive feedback on page builds and occasionally conducting training sessions on WordPress basics (for experienced candidates)

    Additional Details

WordPress Lead volunteers must attend a monthly meeting with the Web & Tech team to discuss project updates and ongoing priorities.
