    Description

    Program Lead (Volunteer)

Company Description: Young Black Femmes in San Francisco (YBF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing social isolation and fostering intentional community among Black femmes in San Francisco. Through facilitated gatherings, we offer spaces for authentic connection, emotional wellbeing, and mutual care. YBF is committed to creating community-rooted programs that nurture supportive relationships and meaningful connections.

Role Description: I’m looking for a right hand to help build and carry YBF’s programming forward. This is a collaborative, hands-on role for someone who wants to be closely involved in shaping how these spaces are created and experienced. You will work directly with the Executive Director to plan, structure, and execute our gatherings, with a focus on making sure each event feels intentional, grounded, and well-held.

This is an opportunity to step into real ownership to think critically about how we design community spaces, to contribute ideas, and to help translate vision into something people can actually feel when they walk into the room.

As YBF grows, this role has the potential to evolve alongside it.

    What I’m Looking For:

    • Someone reliable who follows through and communicates clearly
    • Someone thoughtful — you pay attention to how spaces feel and how people experience them
    • Comfortable working closely and collaboratively in a growing, evolving environment
    • Interested in community-building work and creating spaces that center connection and care
    • Based in San Francisco or able to attend in-person events

You don’t need formal nonprofit experience. Experience planning events, facilitating groups, or holding space in any capacity is a plus, but what matters most is how you show up.

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Direct experience building a nonprofit from the ground up
    • Real ownership and influence over programming decisions
    • Close collaboration with the founder and insight into how the organization is being shaped
    • The opportunity to create spaces that have a tangible impact on people’s lives
    • Experience that translates into leadership, program design, and community engagement work
