    Description

    About the Project

We are compiling a comprehensive financial literacy curriculum designed to empower individuals transitioning from crisis toward long-term independence. We are seeking a community-minded writer to draft Module 5, focusing on safely accessing mainstream banking services and protecting against predatory financial practices.

    Assignment & Topic Areas

You will write a complete educational module (approx. 1,500–2,000 words) exploring systemic financial resources:

    • Choosing the Right Financial Institution: Evaluating traditional banks, credit unions, and second-chance checking accounts for those with poor or fractured banking history.
    • Understanding Consumer Rights: Demystifying consumer protections against aggressive debt collectors and deceptive, high-interest predatory lending.
    • Leveraging Public Benefits: Normalizing and detailing how to utilize community resources, SNAP, utility assistance, and local grants to bridge financial gaps safely.
    • Interactive Exercises: Create an assessment checklist or comparison chart for evaluating local financial institutions and benefits options.

    Desired Tone & Style

Empowering, accessible, and protective. It should read like a trusted guide helping the reader reclaim their institutional rights and access community safety nets without shame.

    Qualifications

    • Excellent consumer-focused copywriting skills.
    • Knowledge of consumer rights, banking access (ChexSystems/second-chance accounts), or public assistance frameworks.
    • Skill in converting complex regulations into scannable, universal language.
