    Internship Description

Olivewood’s Garden Support Internship offers an opportunity to learn organic gardening techniques and gain insight into the daily operations of a garden-based education program. Interns will work with the Director of Gardens, Facilities Manager, and Garden Support Staff to assist with garden maintenance, including weeding, watering, harvesting, composting, and more. As an organization rooted in community, this role requires active participation in anti-racist work and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Internships are unpaid; however, class credit is available.

Garden Support Interns commit to approximately 10 to 12 hours per week for a total of 120 hours.

    • Gain first-hand experience with the daily operations of a nonprofit garden education center, including growing for a farm-to-table program and planning for both youth and adult activities
    • Build understanding of local health concerns and education challenges

    Duties

    • Oversee and maintain an assigned garden area
    • Assist with additional garden tasks outside of the assigned area, including watering, weeding, building compost, digging and clearing beds, planting, harvesting, and more
