Massage Therapy: A form of treatment and support in which a trained and certified professional manipulates the soft tissues of the body (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and skin) using varying degrees of pressure and movement and focuses upon enhancing wellness. It is practiced in most cultures, both Eastern and Western, throughout human history, and was one of the earliest tools that people used to try to relieve pain.
Massage Therapy will only be performed by a volunteer of the hospice who is licensed in Massage Therapy.
The Massage Therapist will work within the belief structure and spiritual strength of the patient, and not offer any form of conversion to another belief.
Massage Therapy Volunteers shall not market any personal Massage Therapy business when performing Massage Therapy on behalf of Hospice.
For this volunteer opportunity AccentCare requires a drug test/background check, TB testing and also completing fingerprinting. Also a copy of your massage therapy license should be provided.
Information for these components will be discussed and provided during initial contact with volunteer.
