    Description

Marketing Chair — SCORE Greater Phoenix

    About SCORE Greater Phoenix

SCORE Greater Phoenix is looking for a Volunteer Marketing Chair to help lead and strengthen marketing and communications efforts that connect entrepreneurs and small business owners with SCORE’s free mentoring, educational workshops, and business resources.

SCORE is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed. SCORE Greater Phoenix is part of a network of volunteers who provide entrepreneurs with practical guidance, educational opportunities, and connections to valuable community resources.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing or communications professional who wants to use their skills to make a meaningful impact in the small business community while helping shape the visibility and growth of a well-established nonprofit organization.

    The Role

The Volunteer Marketing Chair will provide strategic direction and leadership for SCORE Greater Phoenix’s marketing efforts. This volunteer will work closely with chapter leadership, workshop leaders, volunteers, and community partners to promote SCORE programs and ensure our messaging reaches the entrepreneurs who can benefit most from our services.

This is a leadership and strategy role, with opportunities to build and coordinate a team of marketing volunteers rather than being solely responsible for creating every piece of content.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and help implement an annual marketing and communications strategy for SCORE Greater Phoenix
    • Work with chapter leadership to identify marketing priorities and opportunities
    • Help promote SCORE mentoring, workshops, special events, and community initiatives
    • Oversee marketing efforts across social media, email communications, website content, and other appropriate channels
    • Develop and maintain a marketing and promotional calendar
    • Help establish consistent messaging and branding across chapter communications
    • Coordinate with volunteers who support social media, graphic design, email marketing, website content, and other marketing activities
    • Review and guide promotional materials to ensure they are accurate, professional, accessible, and consistent with SCORE branding
    • Identify opportunities to increase awareness and engagement with local entrepreneurs and small businesses
    • Collaborate with community organizations, sponsors, chambers of commerce, and other partners on promotional opportunities
    • Monitor basic marketing and engagement metrics and recommend improvements
    • Help recruit, organize, and support additional marketing volunteers
    • Participate in chapter leadership meetings and contribute to broader chapter strategy
    • Support special marketing projects and initiatives as needed

    Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is:

    • Experienced in marketing, communications, public relations, branding, digital marketing, or a related field
    • Comfortable developing marketing strategies and turning them into actionable plans
    • A strong written and verbal communicator
    • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Comfortable collaborating with volunteers and working as part of a team
    • Able to provide direction and constructive feedback in a positive, collaborative manner
    • Familiar with social media, email marketing, digital communications, and basic marketing analytics
    • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
    • Passionate about helping entrepreneurs and strengthening the local small business community

Nonprofit experience is helpful but not required. Experience with Canva, Constant Contact or similar email platforms, social media management, website content, or other digital marketing tools is a plus.
