    Description

We're seeking a volunteer Grant Researcher to help us translate our work into funding. A Faith That Does Justice is an all-volunteer interfaith nonprofit serving Greater Boston. We bring people of faith together around direct service and advocacy — including English language instruction for more than 200 immigrants each year and more than 5,000 nutritious lunches each year for families facing food insecurity.

We're looking for a volunteer Grant Researcher to build our pipeline — identifying the foundations and funders whose priorities align with our programs, so our Grant Writer can focus on writing strong proposals to the right places. If you enjoy the detective work of matching mission to money, this is a role where good research shows up quickly in results.

    What You'll Do

    • Identify foundations, corporate givers, and other funders whose priorities align with AFTDJ's programs
    • Identify and provide detailed info on 1-2 funders per month
    • Research eligibility requirements, deadlines, giving history, and application processes
    • Maintain a well-organized prospect database and application calendar
    • Hand off vetted prospects to the Grant Writer with the context needed to move quickly
    • Meet weekly with the Advancement team

    What We're Looking For

    • Previous experience in grant acquisition, ideally in the nonprofit sector
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Access to Candid's Foundation Directory or a comparable platform (online training available)
    • Comfort with Excel and online research for searching and recording funder information
    • Availability for a weekly Advancement team meeting
