    Description

    Are you passionate about building community, empowering volunteers, and driving meaningful change? Myositis Support & Understanding (MSU) is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Outreach & Engagement Team Lead to help shape the future of patient-led research and advocacy. In this leadership role, you’ll guide a dynamic volunteer team, strengthen partnerships, and lead initiatives that connect and inspire the myositis community nationwide. Join us in transforming myositis care through collaboration, compassion, and innovation.

    The Volunteer Outreach & Engagement Team Lead will develop, coordinate, and lead initiatives that strengthen relationships between MSU and its communities, partners, and stakeholders.

    This includes implementing outreach strategies, managing volunteer teams, overseeing campaigns, and supporting MSU’s mission to expand research and advocacy efforts.

    The position may also provide operational support to MSU leadership and cross-functional teams.

    Principle Duties

    • Implement volunteer outreach and engagement strategies aligned with MSU’s mission and goals.
    • Supervise and support volunteer team members, including conducting meetings and maintaining engagement programs.
    • Build relationships with healthcare providers, researchers, patient organizations, and community partners.
    • Oversee content creation, campaigns, social media, and digital marketing initiatives.
    • Maintain volunteer databases, track metrics, and prepare reports as needed.

    Qualifications

    The following are considered key job qualifications:

    • Experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, or marketing/communications.
    • Leadership experience managing volunteers or cross-functional teams.
    • Project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple initiatives.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Mailchimp, and social media scheduling platforms preferred.
    • Personal or family experience with myositis or other chronic/rare diseases is desirable.

Our vision is to create a world where patients, caregivers, and providers have better knowledge, support, and understanding of myositis.
