Help Fight Hunger and Food Waste in Baltimore! Food Rescuer Needed
Details
Description
More than 40 million individuals, including 9 million children, are food insecure in the United States.
Grocery prices have jumped 12% in the past year; the sharpest increase since 1979.
The need for our work has never been more vital.
Food Rescue US is dedicated to reducing wasted food and increasing food access. By keeping food out of landfills, we reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. Through our proprietary app, we engage volunteers and food donors to directly transfer nutritious excess food to social service agencies serving people experiencing food insecurity. Food Rescue US is a national organization with 50+ sites across 20+ states and DC.
Food rescuers pick-up excess food from local food donors, including grocery stores, restaurants, corporate dining facilities, and other food providers, and deliver it to local social service agencies providing for the food insecure. Rescuers use their own vehicles and select times that are convenient for them to pick-up and drop-off the excess food.
The process is quick, simple, and incredibly rewarding. Interested in getting involved? Sign up at FoodRescue.us to start today and see a complete schedule of local food rescue opportunities.
