About the Role
This is a volunteer board role for a Cultural & Interfaith Programs Board Member at The Healing Circle Foundation. The Cultural & Interfaith Programs Board Member will help guide programs, partnerships, and outreach efforts that promote cross-cultural understanding, interfaith harmony, community healing, and inclusive engagement. This role is ideal for someone passionate about cultural programming, faith-based collaboration, and building bridges across diverse communities.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of cultural and interfaith programs, events, and community initiatives.
- Help identify and build relationships with faith leaders, cultural organizations, community centers, educators, and local partners.
- Assist with outreach to diverse communities across NYC and surrounding areas.
- Contribute ideas for dialogues, celebrations, educational programs, healing circles, and community gatherings.
- Help raise awareness of the foundation’s mission in cultural and interfaith spaces.
- Participate in board discussions, planning sessions, and community engagement efforts.
- Support fundraising, partnership development, and advocacy efforts when appropriate.
- Offer insight on inclusion, respect, accessibility, and culturally responsive programming.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in interfaith dialogue, cultural exchange, community healing, or social cohesion.
- Experience in nonprofit work, faith-based service, cultural programming, education, or community outreach is preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to think creatively about inclusive and respectful programming.
- Commitment to equity, belonging, and community care.
- Willingness to collaborate with leadership and contribute time as a volunteer board member.

Preferred Skills
- Background in interfaith work, cultural programming, mediation, education, or community engagement.
- Public speaking or outreach experience.
- Familiarity with faith communities, cultural institutions, or cross-cultural initiatives.
- Experience with event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit partnership development.
- Bilingual ability is a plus.
Pay range and compensation package
Volunteer board position with opportunities for mission involvement, leadership experience, community impact, and potential future stipends or commission-based opportunities tied to funded projects.
