Miracle Friend for a Phone Buddy Program - 100% Remote

About this Opportunity

Miracle Messages is an award-winning 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that helps people experiencing homelessness rebuild their social support systems and financial security, primarily through family reunifications, a phone buddy program, and basic income pilots. Miracle Friends is a phone buddy program for individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteer from anywhere in the world, just 30 minutes a week.

Be matched with an unhoused or recently housed neighbor for weekly phone calls or texts. These check-ins foster real conversations and building lasting relationships. Many of our unhoused neighbors experience profound isolation. A simple weekly call can reduce loneliness, boost mental health and build trust in a world that often feels neglectful and harsh.

How It Works

• Miracle Friends is 100% virtual and remote. Volunteer from anywhere in the world!
• We match you with someone experiencing homelessness or recently housed at one of our partner service sites.
• We provide you a Google Voice or Dialpad number to reach your unhoused friend without giving out your personal phone number.
• You commit to around 30 minutes per week, flexible based on your schedule:
  • Weekly 1:1 calls and/or texts with your unhoused friend
  • Log each call in your volunteer dashboard
  • Optional group check-ins (weekly 30 min.)
  • Initial training & kickoff orientation
• You offer general companionship and support - as a friend, not a caseworker. Our team & volunteer community will support you at every step. (Additionally, we strive to have every unhoused friend also supported by a caseworker at their service site.)
