Grant Writer - Investigative Healthcare Docuseries

Help us fund the story beneath the surface of what’s happening in American healthcare.

Polaris, Inc. is looking for a Volunteer Grant Writer to help identify aligned funding opportunities and develop grant applications for The Iceberg, our six-episode investigative docu-series that goes inside American healthcare through the employers who fund it, providers who carry it, patients who navigate it, and institutions that shape it to explore why the system became what it is, how it’s affecting everyone involved, and what it could take to build something that puts people first.

What you’ll help with:

• Research foundations, documentary funds, healthcare-focused philanthropies, and other funding opportunities aligned with Polaris and The Iceberg.
• Identify grant opportunities related, but not limited, to public health education, healthcare-system change, patient advocacy, social-impact documentary, civic education, and narrative or movement-building.
• Evaluate potential funders for mission alignment, eligibility, deadlines, requirements, and project stage.
• Draft and refine letters of inquiry, grant proposals, project descriptions, funder outreach, and supporting materials.
• Adapt our existing story, case for support, statistics, and project materials to different funder priorities while keeping the core message consistent.
• Help maintain a shared grant tracker with opportunities, deadlines, status, funding amounts, and next steps.
• Work with the Polaris team to gather the information and materials needed for applications.
