    Description

    Department Coordinator- Remote Volunteer

Company Description Face Friends Foundation Incorporated is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit addressing poverty and social inequality in Gwinnett County, Georgia and beyond. The foundation leverages technology to reduce food insecurity, education disparities, and inequities in healthcare access through programs including Food Assistance, After School Tutoring, Emergency Economic Assistance, and a Backpack and School Supply Program.

We are currently building the Sugar Hill Workforce Academy — a physical culinary incubator kitchen and technical literacy lab in Sugar Hill, Georgia designed to create real economic opportunity for youth, unemployed adults, and small business owners in underserved communities. Our team is fully virtual with members across the United States, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Role Description The Department Coordinator is a remote volunteer role responsible for keeping an assigned department operationally active and moving day to day. This is not a purely administrative role — it is a coordination and accountability role for a self-directed professional who thrives in a remote environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring team member activity within the department, following up when tasks stall or team members go quiet, prompting and supporting weekly department updates, and escalating unresolved blockers to the Chief of Staff before they become organizational delays. The coordinator serves as the operational backbone of their department, ensuring the team stays productive and accountable without requiring Executive Director intervention.

    Qualifications

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces simultaneously
    • Comfortable following up with peers in a professional, constructive manner without direct authority over them
    • Reliable and consistent — this role requires regular engagement, not occasional check-ins
    • Proficient with remote collaboration tools; experience with Bitrix24 is a plus but not required
    • Clear written communication skills and comfort working with a globally diverse team
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fully asynchronous environment
    • Genuine passion for community development, nonprofit work, and operational excellence

    What You Receive

    • A named coordinator role at a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit
    • Meaningful project coordination experience in a live, growing organization
    • A formal letter of service and professional reference upon successful completion
    • Complimentary enrollment in the Sugar Hill Workforce Academy digital program library upon completing 90 days in role

Commitment 3 to 5 hours per week. Fully remote and asynchronous. Flexible scheduling.
