You’re the communications hub and so much more!

Every year, the amazing volunteers of the Red Cross, Southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPA) region respond to hundreds of local, personal disasters predominately home fires. Our teams in the field provide emotional support, access to financial assistance, and resources to help families begin the process of recovery.

DUTY OFFICERS make this all happen....volunteers who help from home, by acting as a liaison with local authorities, ensuring the timely activation of the response efforts, and capturing vital information.

Responsibilities:

• Receive requests to determine if Red Cross action is required, using triggers such as size, scope, and type of event.
• Dispatch resources and personnel, providing leadership and support.
• Ensure regular communication with all team members, while recording and sharing appropriate information.
• Set your own on-call schedule totally 24 hours/month. Respond only during your window(s) of availability!
  • OVERNIGHT SHIFT COVERAGE NEEDED - Mindnight-4AM; 4-8AM.
• Attend regularly scheduled team meetings and maintain current on all training.
• Collaborate effectively with others, efficiently handling time sensitive issues, and maintaining flexibility in a continuously changing environment.
• Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor.

Commitment:

• Set your own schedule of customizable on-call shifts, averaging 3 shifts per month; shifts are 4 hours in length; OVERNIGHT SHIFT COVERGAE NEEDED!
• Respond only during your on-call shifts.
• Change your shifts as often necessary to fit your availability.

Qualifications:

• Reliable internet access and cell phone (with ability to receive text messages), laptop, or computer.
• Must be comfortable learning and using new technology.
• Able to follow all Red Cross disaster response and other related standards and procedures.
• Minimum age: 18 years or older.
