    Description

    Position Title: Director, Storytelling In Organizations (SIO)

    Organization: National Storytelling Network (NSN)

    Position Type: Volunteer Leadership Role

    Term: Three years (renewable upon mutual agreement)

    Start Date: July 2026 (Scaffolding can start as early as January 2026)

    This position is filled through nomination by SIO members, reflecting the group’s commitment to shared leadership and community representation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership and Strategic Vision

    • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all SIO activities in alignment with NSN’s mission and strategic goals.
    • Develop and implement an annual and three-year strategic plan to guide SIO’s growth, programming, and impact.
    • Participate as a full member of the NSN Board of Directors, attending monthly board meetings and engaging in strategic discussions, policy decisions, and collaborative initiatives.
    • Represent the SIO community’s interests and insights to the NSN Board and national membership.

    Program Development and Management

    • Coordinate and host SIO’s webinar series, workshops, and storytelling events that explore storytelling as a tool for leadership, organizational learning, and change.
    • Coordinate and advertise programs to ensure wide participation across NSN’s membership and the broader professional community.
    • Collaborate with national and international speakers, storytellers, and practitioners to deliver compelling, high-quality programming.
    • Oversee event logistics, scheduling, and participant engagement to ensure professional and accessible delivery.

    Financial Oversight and Budget Management

    • Develop, manage, and monitor the annual SIO budget in coordination with NSN’s Treasurer and staff.
    • Ensure responsible allocation of funds to support SIO programming, operations, and outreach.
    • Review financial reports and make recommendations to support sustainability and growth.
    • Seek opportunities for sponsorships, collaborations, or partnerships that may expand SIO’s resources and impact.

    Administrative and Reporting Duties

    • Maintain regular communication with NSN staff, volunteers, and the SIO community.
    • Submit program updates, reports, and budget summaries to the NSN Board as required.
    • Ensure that all SIO activities meet NSN policies and operational standards.

    Time Commitment and Term of Service

    • Three-year term, renewable upon mutual agreement with the NSN Board.
    • Start date: July 2026 (Scaffolding can start as early as January 2026)
    • Approximately 4- 6 hours per month, including participation in monthly two-hour Board of Directors meetings.
    • Time commitment may vary during planning or event cycles.
