Description
New York Common Pantry is an organization that aims to reduce hunger and food insecurity by providing an array of programs that help establish long-term independence for those in need. Our approach focuses on helping the whole person, starting with providing nutritious, fresh food pantry packages in the Choice Pantry program.
To achieve this, we need volunteers who can help us pick and pack bags of fresh produce and shelf-stable foods for immediate distribution to our food-insecure program participants. Some volunteers may also assist program participants in selecting groceries from our inventory on tablets, while others may pack the groceries according to order. Additionally, volunteers may be asked to distribute food to those in need or help with heavy lifting, such as unloading trucks of food and transporting it into the pantry.
Shifts are available Wednesday - Saturday, see details below:
- Morning Pantry Shift: 09am to 12:30pm
- Afternoon Pantry Shift: 12pm to 4pm
- Heavy Lifters Delivery Shift (Wednesday and Friday only): 12pm to 4pm
