    Description

NGO Management & Sustainable Development Program – Amazon Rainforest

Are you interested in the "behind-the-scenes" work that makes conservation possible? Semillas Life is looking for organized, strategic, and passionate individuals to join our NGO Management Program in Codo del Pozuzo, Peru.

Running a grassroots NGO in a remote rainforest environment requires a unique blend of creativity and structure. As an NGO Management intern, you will work directly with our leadership team to strengthen our operations, expand our global reach, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our medical and environmental projects. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to understand the complexities of international development from the ground up.

    Your Impact:

You won't just be filing paperwork; you will be helping build the foundation of our organization. Your work will include:

    • Grant Research & Fundraising: Identifying international funding opportunities and assisting in the drafting of project proposals.
    • Project Coordination: Streamlining communication between our various programs (Medical, Education, and Conservation) to ensure goals are being met.
    • Community Relations: Assisting in the logistical planning of local events and maintaining partnerships with community stakeholders.
    • Operational Strategy: Improving internal systems, from volunteer onboarding processes to impact reporting and data management.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct weekly audits of project progress and assist in writing monthly impact reports.
    • Research and map potential corporate sponsors or international NGO partners.
    • Manage logistics for incoming volunteer groups and local workshops.
    • Support the digital archiving of project data and financial tracking.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Background in Business Administration, International Relations, Non-Profit Management, Communications, or a related field.
    • Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace/Microsoft Office. Strong writing skills are essential.
    • Soft Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to solve problems independently in a remote setting.
    • Language: English fluency. Intermediate Spanish is a strong advantage for local administrative tasks but not a requirement.

    Benefits & Living Environment

    • Leadership Experience: Gain a holistic view of how a grassroots NGO operates, with direct mentorship from our founders.
    • Professional Growth: Build a portfolio of grant applications, project reports, and strategic plans.
    • Impact: See the immediate results of your administrative work in the success of our reforestation and health programs.
    • Spanish lessons: We provide 4 hours of Spanish lessons per week.

    Directions

How to Reach Codo del Pozuzo

Codo del Pozuzo is a hidden gem in the Peruvian Amazon. Reaching us is an adventure that takes you through breathtaking landscapes. There are two primary routes from Lima:

Option 1: The Mountain Route (Via Oxapampa)

Recommended for those traveling by bus who want to see the stunning transition from the Andes to the Cloud Forest.

    1. Lima to Oxapampa: Take an overnight bus from Lima (approx. 11 hours).
    2. Oxapampa to Codo del Pozuzo: * Find pick-up trucks (colectivos) outside the bus station heading directly to Codo (S/50–80 soles).
      • If no direct transport is available, take a tuk-tuk (S/10 soles) to the Terminal de Colectivos. Take a car to Pozuzo (2 hours), then a second car to Codo del Pozuzo (2 hours).

Option 2: The Jungle Route (Via Pucallpa)

The fastest option if you prefer to fly.

    1. Lima to Pucallpa: A quick 1-hour flight or a 20-hour bus ride.
    2. Pucallpa to Codo del Pozuzo: * Direct: We can help coordinate a colectivo pick-up from the airport (S/90–100 soles).
      • Private: A private taxi can be arranged for approximately S/300 soles (5 hours).
      • Public: Take a tuk-tuk to Terminal de Colectivos Kilómetro #6. Take a minibus to Puerto Sungaro (2–3 hours), then a pick-up truck to Codo del Pozuzo (2–3 hours).

⚠️ Important Travel Tips for Volunteers:

    • Arrival Time: Please aim to arrive in Pucallpa or Oxapampa before 1:00 PM (13:00h). Most local transport stops running or becomes less safe after dark.
    • Fees: Always confirm the price with the driver before boarding to avoid overcharging.
    • Communication: Once you are accepted into the program, our team will stay in constant contact with you via WhatsApp to track your journey and ensure you find the correct terminals.
