Media Journalist -Professional Volunteer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Media Journalist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to uncovering the truth and delivering compelling stories that engage our audience. This role requires a versatile individual who can write, edit, and produce content across various communication channels, including print, digital, radio, and social media. As a Media Journalist, you will be responsible for researching topics, conducting interviews, and ensuring accuracy in every piece of content.

The SpreadYourHeart Organization is a grassroots nonprofit organization that provides outreach services that rehabilitate the homeless, recover impaired environments, and empower entrepreneurs around the world. We operate in states around the U.S but provide direct support to communities in San Bernardino County, CA and Hillsborough County, FL.

Responsibilities:

• Research and investigate newsworthy topics to develop engaging stories.
• Write clear, concise articles adhering to AP style guidelines.
• Conduct interviews with sources to gather information and quotes.
• Edit and proofread content for clarity, grammar, and factual accuracy.
• Manage social media accounts to promote articles and engage with the audience.
• Produce video content as needed, including filming and editing.
• Fact-check all information before publication to ensure credibility.
• Collaborate with editors and other team members to refine story ideas.
• Utilize photography skills to enhance written pieces when applicable.
• Stay updated on current events and trends relevant to assigned beats.

Qualifications:

• Prooven experience in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
• Strong writing skills with experience in copywriting and copy editing.
• Proficiency in AP style is essential.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interviewing and collaboration.
• Experience in video production and videography is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with social media management strategies for audience engagement.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply as it enhances storytelling capabilities.
• Strong research skills with the ability to verify facts efficiently.
• Comfortable being on camera and/or microphone.
